What a year to be on sabbatical! COVID-19 has stalled our ability to perform concerts, but when we’re able to make music together, I’ll be presenting some very exciting contemporary works for voice and solo instruments with violinist Ioana Galu, oboist Jill Camwell, Flutist Denise Rotavera-Krain and saxophonist Dave Camwell. Here are some of the pieces that made the short list:
Suite pour chante et violon by Heitor Villa-Lobos–Six Rondeaux by Jean Berger–When I Rise Up by Brittany J. Green–5 American Duos by Kathleen Ginther, Robert Lombardo and Elizabeth Start–It’s the Voice That Shall Remain–Ramin Amin Tafreshi
Bells and Grass by Juliana Hall–Ten Blake Songs by Ralph Vaughn Williams–Love Songs by Jenny Brandon
Dos Poemas de Juan Ramón Jiménez by Joaquin Rodrigo–A Plum Branch of Spring by Klaus George Roy, Deux Poèmes de Ronsard by Jacques Roussel–Ecoute! Mon coeur by André Caplet
Living the Body by Lori Laitman–4 Vocalises by Greg Wannamaker–Lacrymosa by Judith Birmingham
I’m super excited to again be directing a musical on the College of Wooster campus. The Opera & Lyric Theatre Workshop will present
April 26-27, 2019
This unconventional and moving musical drama examines the interconnectedness of all people through an array of diverse life experiences.
Auditions will be held November 2018 and I look forward to a wonderful production in the spring!
